Dear Christian Friends,
As we study together, we are all going to be encountering God’s Word and truth. If done with serious intent these weeks can and will be life changing. I hope and pray that they are. Doing this study well we will require that we use our active imaginations, dig deeply and visualize the world as it was. Together let us enter into this study time, trying to understand the situations, tensions, intrigue, fears and faith which we find unfolding in this dynamic book.
The Word is alive as well as dynamic and as we encounter each scene, player and spiritual revelation within Acts, we will each encounter them differently. We are all pilgrims, each of us having something to learn, something personal and important. The Lord is looking to meet each us where we are and lead us forward. The Book of Acts is nothing if not the book about the Holy Spirit and its divine intent. As we learn what Luke and the Holy Spirit are unfolding for us in our current time, we will be challenged. This time will require prayer; for ourselves and the others in the study. This will also require that we be thoughtful and discerning. If you encounter a scene, phrase or word that captures your imagination and touches your heart, write it down. Take that word/scene/phrase and place it in your pocket and refer to it a few times a day throughout the week. Meditate on it and allow it to change your world view. God is continually reaching out, let it happen.
One of the basic ways to see what the Word is moving us towards is to do our homework. As you read, it might be best to keep these questions in mind.
What does the passage say?
What does the passage mean?
What does this passage mean for us?
How does this truth affect my life?
We are about to meet and walk with the earliest heroes of our faith. This is a book for the searching person, full of mystery, divine power, forgiveness and redemption. It is a book for each of us and for our time.
